Life Talk
Let's talk about life for a minute. I opened this blog today for the first time in months. I really planned on updating this every week, but my life got so crazy this summer! First of all, I moved to London for the summer. I lived in a tiny apartment in Notting Hill with three girls I'd never met. To be honest, it was crazy, but I loved every moment of it. We spent our weekends in Ireland and Brighton and Bath. We went to clubs and concerts and danced and drank, and I've never loved a place so much. Now looking back, I don't regret missing a few months of blogs, because I was really trying to make the best of every second I had in London. I got to meet amazing people like Johnny Depp, Tanya Burr, and Louise from Sprinkle of Glitter. I got to stand on the roof of a castle. I got to visit the Harry Potter Studios. I even got to be outside the hospital when they brought out the royal baby, Prince George. So needless to say, it was the absolute best summer of my life, and I wouldn't change a thing. So here's a few of my pictures from London!

And of course, the classic London picture |
So since I've been home, I've gone back to school. I applied for my major, and just found out this week that I got into the Journalism School that I was just dying to get into. This has been such a great few months for me, and I'm sorry that I didn't update you all more frequently. From now on, I will be returning to this blog! Hopefully I'll have some new beauty bits to show you soon.
Hope you're all well! I'd love to know how your summer was, feel free to tell me in the comments!

Drugstore Skincare!
Well Hello Again!
I know, I know....I said this would be up by the end of last week, and here we are on Monday. Sorry, I'm a busy girl! But here it is, bright and shining and ready to be read by you!
So I thought about how I could do this, and I wanted to focus on face washes and moisturizers, because that's all I use on my face on a daily basis. So I decided to include a few different face washes that I like based on different types of skin, and a few skincare products that I always carry with me.
Here we go!
I have never had very oily skin, but recently my nose and forehead have been SO oily. I think it's the hot weather, but my mom recommended I buy Clean & Clear Finishes Mattifying Cleanser. THIS STUFF IS GREAT. I really just adore this stuff. It absorbs the oil in my t-zone without making the rest of my face too dry. If you have oily skin, check this out. It leaves your skin looking great and ready for makeup, and even on days that I want to go au naturale, I just wash my face with this and dab on a bit of mascara. WAH LAH! Your skin looks fabulous and you're ready to go.
Now, let's talk about acne. I just recently started getting bumps, and I'm almost 20 years old! I thought I was done with that stage of my life, but I guess not *sigh*. My brother used Proactiv for years, so I decided to give it a try. I really like it. The renewing cleanser is so exfoliating, and after you've used all three, your skin feels so soft! They don't exactly smell amazing, but if you use them before bed, your bumps will look much better in the morning. Now, let me just point out how annoying their commercials are. They're absolutely horrible, and they make it seem like this product is a miracle in a bottle. I wouldn't say that at all. It hasn't completely transformed my face, but it has made quite a lot of difference. If you struggle with acne, and you feel like you've tried it all, it might be worth it for you to give Proactiv a try.
Ah, Olay Fresh Effects. This is a brand new product from Olay's new Fresh Effects line. Not everyone struggles with acne or oily skin. Quite a few of you probably have normal skin, which is where this comes in! I was quite confused when I first opened this, because I expected big, exfoliating beads, since it is called Bead Me Up! However, upon further use, I realized the exfoliating micro-beads are very tiny and hardly noticeable but they do make my face nice and soft. I usually just use this when I come in from the gym or the pool, to give my face a quick wash. I think it's because of the cute bottle, but I expected this to smell way better than it does. It doesn't really have a great scent, but it's bearable. If you have normal skin and are looking for a good everyday face wash, this could be the product for you.
Moving on to my favorite everyday products! I'm carrying these three things with me in my bag at the moment. The Aveeno Positively Radiant moisturizer is the best. I need a new bottle already. This must be the 5th or 6th bottle I've been through since I bought it for the first time. It has 30 SPF and evens out skin tone. I use this stuff everyday, it's great.
Next up is Neutrogena On the Spot Acne Treatment. I use this stuff every time I get a bad spot.Just pop a little bit of this stuff on it, and it'll dry out pretty quickly. One again, no miracle here, but it works for me! If I put it on as soon as I feel the spot coming, it usually won't come up at all. It's a tiny little tube, but it lasts forever.
Lastly, let's talk about Jergens Natural Glow Face. I am totally against using the same fake tan you use for your body on your face. The smells and chemicals are way too harsh. So instead, I suggest investing in a fake tan made just for the face. This stuff smells pretty good and it has 20 SPF. It's extremely gradual, so don't expect a huge change the first time you use it. If you use this stuff as a daily moisturizer, you're sure to see a really nice summery glow.
So that's it for today's drugstore skincare. I'm sure to do another one of these soon and include a few masks, makeup remover, and other spot treatments. I hope this was helpful. Let me know if it was, or if there's anything you'd like me to talk about in future posts. I hope y'all are having a good week so far!

Fun Twitter Things and Summer
Hello again,
Today I got a blogging twitter, so that's an exciting addition to my blog-world!
Also, it's officially Summer for me, and I'm trying to soak up all the Georgia heat before I jet off to chilly London. I've been hanging out with friends and laying by the pool. It is so nice to just relax. I'll insert an instagram picture I took by the pool yesterday.
My skin has been so awful lately from stress and lack of time for skin-care, so I've been spending time nursing it back to life. It is so hard to fix your skin once it's in bad shape, but I'm in desperate need of a fresh face before my trip. I think my next blog will be a review of various skin-care products, because they have been the focus of my beauty regime lately. Look for that to be up early next week.
Last week during finals L'Oreal Paris came to my university, and they were generous enough to hand out tons of hair-dye, magazines, coupons, and snacks outside of my dorm. It was so nice to get a few girly things for free to lighten the mood a bit, so I thought I'd post the instagram picture I took of all the freebies. Thanks, L'Oreal!
Sorry this is a short, uninteresting lifestyle post. By the end of next week I should have a new skin-care and a makeup post up. I would love it if you followed me on twitter, @ShellyBlogs. My instagram name is shelly_wallace if you're interested in following that. Hope y'all have had a great week. Talk to you soon!

Review of Maybelline Fit Me Foundation
Hello Internet People,
I'm officially done with my freshman year of college, and I'll admit that it didn't go exactly as planned, but it's all a learning experience. I'm preparing to head to London for the summer. I've literally never been so excited about anything, but until then, here's a blog post! Today I'm reviewing the Maybelline Fit Me Foundation. This foundation is pretty high coverage, and it has 18 SPF. Although I think it's a great thing that it protects your skin from the sun, this foundation doesn't smell very good. It has a pretty strong sunscreen smell, and I don't really like that on my face, but if you don't mind the smell, it's a good foundation. The coverage is good and mattifying, without being too cakey. I haven't used it too many times because this color was a bit too yellow on me, since I have a red-toned skin color. I probably won't purchase this in another color because I really hate the smell. My daily moisturizer has SPF in it, so I'm already using sun protection. If you don't use a moisturizer with sun screen, you should invest in a foundation with SPF. Protecting your skin from the sun is a necessity year-round, but it's especially important during the summer!
Hope you all are having a great day!

Busy, Busy, Busy
Hi everyone!
Wow, it's been so long. As I told you in my first post, I'm a college student, and this is finals week. So let's just say that the last few weeks have been some of the busiest (and most stressful) weeks of my life. Over the course of the last month I have drank enough coffee to last a family of 5 a year or two and have slept only enough to survive. I have been exhausted and close to a random cry-session at pretty much every moment lately. I haven't put makeup on, much less bought new makeup, so I haven't posted in a while. But I'm back, and determined to post a ton of new stuff over the summer!
I'll leave you with a few songs I've been listening to that always cheer me up!
Thanks for reading, I'll speak to you soon!
xoxo Shelly

Elf Eyelid Primer
Hello strangers!
Well it's been quite a while, and that is completely my fault. I've been working, and going to school, and celebrating Easter with my family, but I'm back with another product! This is the Eyes Lips Face Eyelid Primer. I got this from Target because they didn't have my usually elf eye shadow primer, which came in a squeeze tube and was a shimmery cream color. Since they didn't have the old one, and I really needed an eyelid primer, I went ahead and picked this one up. Anyways, it was only a dollar.
For such a cheap product, I would say it's a pretty good eye shadow base. It's not the best, by far, but it does the job. It has no color at all when rubbed in, at least on my skin tone, but it leaves the eyelid matte. It does a great job of making the shadow look more pigmented, and it stays for a bit longer than it would without any primer at all. My only problems with this are 1) It's a thin cream and it causes the eyelid to get a bit oily after a while of wearing it. 2) It doesn't have much staying power. It holds the shadow for a few hours, and then it just stops doing it's job. My eyes end up looking a bit muddled at the end of the day.
I wouldn't recommend you go out and buy this right away. It's honestly not that great, in my opinion. But! If you don't have an eye shadow primer at all, there can be absolutely no harm done by you purchasing this $1 baby.
Have a great day (or night)!
